Well now it’s official. South Beach Casino in Scanterbury will be going smoke free as of May 17th of this year!

Going smoke free was part of a deal with the Provincial Government to allow the casino to add additional slot machines, expanding their existing business considerably. This expansion was needed to offer gambling fascilities for the the new hotel put up next to the casino. The hotel is that big white building you can see from miles away when you drive along hwy 59 approaching the reserve.

It will be interesting to see whether this business model will be successful. If nothing else residents and cottage owners of the Eastern Beaches Area can hope to profit from improvements to Hwy 59 from Winnipeg to Scanterbury.
