HuckleberriesNow is also the perfect time to go blueberry picking and huckleberry picking along the Beaches of Lake Winnipeg.

Blueberries and Huckleberries are basically the same thing though some say the real Huckleberry has larger seeds, making it more difficult to eat. Both are exelent if washed and slightly coated with sugar then served as a desert. Also great in blueberry pie and blueberry pancakes!

Blueberries can be found along the east side of Hwy 59 just south of the Belair turn-off. Also on Elk Island, making the island worth a day trip. Especially if you combine it with mushroom picking and come back with a full festival meal!
