Defying the financial crisis in the US that is causing real estate prices to hit rock bottom there- Winnipeg property prices have soared up by 78% in the last four years.

This has prompted the City of Winnipeg to send out new property tax assessments to home owners. This of course means that property owners in Winnipeg will be paying higher taxes on their real estate starting 2010.

Similar increases in value are expected for the rest of southern Manitoba. So we can expect the property tax to go up for us at the Lake too.
