The mosquito Culex tarsalis that can carry the West Nile Virus is getting closer to the Eastern Beaches Area. The first mosquitos of the species have been found as close as Selkirk and Beausejour.

August and early September are the perfect time to go to Manitoba’s Beaches! Weather is warm, mid to upper 80s, it is the sunniest time of year and the mosquitos have quieted down. Enjoy the summer by renting a cottage for a week.

The stupid little things don’t only try to land on the surface of the house wall, they also seem to be extreemly attracted to spider webs. They seem to find cobwebs where you didn’t see any before, wrap themselves in the sticky mess and then attach themselves to the house. Getting the results off can be a real pain.

People may even have to think twice before planning a weekend trip to the cottage. For most families a trip to the Lake from Winnipeg and back with their family car will cost them between 40 and 50 Liters of gasoline. That’s between 60 and 70 bucks right there – and you haven’t picked up groceries, gotten gas for the boat or filled up the propane tank yet.

I just read an article on CBC stating that Manitoba’s main beer distributor says that though there is plenty of beer available they are having problems with the distribution, due to labour problems and weather and illness.
