Now the price for a barrel of crude oil has gone down below $ 100 – that’s almost 50% down from its peak. The price for gasoline went up by almost 15 cents overnight!

The mayor of Churchill is asking for provincial government assistance to help the population deal with gas prices that are just under 2 Dollars a liter! This peak in gas prices has been afflicting the community since February.
So it’s a lose lose situation for us consumers. The only thing we know for sure is that gasoline is expensive and likely to remain so. We also know that the only ones that are profiting are the oil companies and the government.
People may even have to think twice before planning a weekend trip to the cottage. For most families a trip to the Lake from Winnipeg and back with their family car will cost them between 40 and 50 Liters of gasoline. That’s between 60 and 70 bucks right there – and you haven’t picked up groceries, gotten gas for the boat or filled up the propane tank yet.
