Summer Winds Festival in Victoria Beach

One of the goals of the concert was to raise funds to repair the recent vandalism. Some of the profit was to go towards the upgrade of the baseball park and skateboard pad and the purchase of sport’s equipment.
It featured childrens activities food stands and a skate-board park. – and of course: Dr. Rage & The Uppercuts.

No West Nile infections this year!

Health officials have not found any mosquitos infected with West Nile this year in Manitoba.
On the other hand the count for the caught: Culex tarsalis is slightly on the rise. Culex tarsalis ist the type of mosquito that can potentially carry the West Nile parasite

Blackouts and power outages after high winds

For most of us in this area the outages only lasted for a few hours. Some parts of Vancouver on the other hand have been without power for 3 days already – and some won’t be able to turn on their electric stove till late Wednesday according to the BC Hydro Company. 2000 customers were without power there. The traffic lights didn’t work and absolute chaos resulted. I’m glad that didn’t happen here! Could you imagine being without traffic lights for 3 whole days?

Construction on South Beach Casino Hotel delayed

The South Beach Casino Hotel in Scanterbury Manitoba was supposed to be opening at the end of this summer. Delays caused by an ongoing investigation by the province’s workplace safety and health division this date may not be met. Construction has been closed down untill the end of the investigation.
