I read that headline in the Winnipeg Free Press and it sort of startled me. No the police did not say they are there to serve and to protect, they are telling us to be meek and let ourselves get mugged!

Though I do agree that an iPod, iPhone or some other gadget is not worth giving your life for, I find it bewildering that the police would come out and say something like that.

I would have expected them to make a statement on what they are doing to make sure I do not even get into a situation where my life may be threatened, because I happen to own an iPhone or an iPod! I think it sounds like there is something rotten in the ‘state’ of Manitoba!
