Looking out my front door this morning I finally understood why the willows and cedars I planted last year don’t seem to grow and hardly have any new shoots this spring.
There was this full sized deer nibbling away at the fresh leaves of the young willows.
The Beach is still there and if the sun were shining it would be really inviting.
The water ist absolutely freezing though. The ice just came off a bit over a week ago.

As my mother is over visiting I thought it might be a nice idea to take the canoe to Elk Island.
We packed the canoe on the roof of the Jeep and drove to the boat launch across from the island.
Today was the last day the Veranda Gift Shop in Hillside Beach was open.

The Idle Thyme Restaurant in Traverse Bay, Manitoba, will be open from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm on Monday ,Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
and Friday and Saturday they will open at 8:00 am and close at 8:00 pm.
I came across this interesting history for Hillside Beach the other day. I knew Harry Craig and knew that his sister Mrs. Williams owned land. I didn’t realize that there is more to the past of Hillside Beach.
After 35 years our Pan Abode finally has some insulation!
I had a company from Niverville, Peak Exteriors, add an insulation layer. Steve and his team did a really good job there!
I am almost looking forward to winter, so I can find out how much of a difference the new insulation makes.
As usual one of the first things I do, when I get back to my place is to get the water running.
I just don’t feel right starting the day without a proper shower.
Something wasn’t right. When I got inside I knew what it was. The pump hadn’t restarted. My new underground lines were still frozen!
