Now is also the perfect time to go blueberry picking and huckleberry picking along the Beaches of Lake Winnipeg.
Blueberries and Huckleberries are basically the same thing though some say the real Huckleberry has larger seeds, making it more difficult to eat.
Chanterelle. Unlike other mushrooms Chanterelle are easy to recognise. They are bright yellow, and grow in a funnel shape.
A good place to go Chanterelle picking is Elk Island this time of year.
August and early September are the perfect time to go to Manitoba’s Beaches! Weather is warm, mid to upper 80s, it is the sunniest time of year and the mosquitos have quieted down. Enjoy the summer by renting a cottage for a week.

As part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site nomination on the east side of Lake Winnipeg. Manitoba’s Natural Resources Minister Stan Struthers and his Ontario counterpart joined forces today to protect an area in both provinces.

Though tornadoes (tornados? whats the proper plural?) are not really common in the Eastern Beaches Area of Manitoba, we all remember the twister that came down at Gull Lake two years ago, killing one person and our power and phone lines.
Looking for Internet Service at the Beach at Lake Winnipeg. This August my contract with the Internet Service Provider will expire and I am looking to find something better, or at least an alternative. So if anybody has some good recommendations please tell me.
