August and early September are the perfect time to go to Manitoba's Beaches! Weather is warm, mid to upper 80s, it is the sunniest time of year and the mosquitos have quieted down. Enjoy the summer by renting a cottage for a week.
The Weather for the Beaches along the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg can be totally different - Even though the Beaches are only about 60 miles north of Winnipeg
For most of us in this area the outages only lasted for a few hours. Some parts of Vancouver on the other hand have been without power for 3 days already - and some won't be able to turn on their electric stove till late Wednesday according to the BC Hydro Company. 2000 customers were without power there. The traffic lights didn't work and absolute chaos resulted. I'm glad that didn't happen here! Could you imagine being without traffic lights for 3 whole days?
Strong winds brought down the scaffolding and parts of the construction site at South Beach Casino in Scanterbury. The debris fell on some parked vehicles, but there are currently no reports of people being harmed.
Though it can be sunny at the Beaches the weather forcast for Southern Manitoba will predict rain. I wish Environment Canada would discover the area from Patricia Beach to Victoria Beach. Not even Grand Beach gets mentioned in 99% of the weather forecasts! A good place to check the current weather is our Eastern Beaches Website. We have a link there that displays the current weather for the Beaches Area of Manitoba.
