Well, with the price of gas going through the roof lots of people are looking for alternatives. Some families may even have to think twice before planning a weekend trip to the cottage. For most families a trip to the cottage at the Lake from Winnipeg and back with their family car will cost them between 40 and 50 Liters of gasoline. That’s between 60 and 70 bucks right there – and you haven’t picked up groceries, gotten gas for the boat or filled up the propane tank yet.
In a report by a local newspaper, I just saw that Red River College is working on an alternative. A solar powered electric car! Perfect for sunny Manitoba, though by the looks of it, it doesn’t have such amenities such as air conditioning for the summer and heating for the winter. Let alone space for the wife and kids and all their stuff.
If you want to know what driving around Winnipeg will be like in your brand new solar car, check the video below. 🙂 It’s a bright new future!
