Customers visiting the Idle Thyme Restaurant yesterday reported seeing several RCMP outside the Birchwood Motor Hotel in Traverse Bay Manitoba yesterday afternoon. They said the the officers were carrying rifles, so obviously something serious must have happened.

I hadn’t heard or seen anything, so we asked one of the Victoria Beach Police officers today when he stopped at Traverse Bay Corner. He laughed and said yes there had been a shooting!

It would appear that a deer had been hit by a car driving down Hwy 59 and been so badly injured that it had to be shot. The supposed RCMP with rifles were the chief of the Victoria Beach Police and another officer that had come to shoot the deer and remove the carcase.

So that is how rumors are started.
