It’s that time of year again. The bucks have gone into heat (rut) and as hormone charged as they are they can be a serious hazzard for drivers. Especially now with visibility often low and road conditions below optimal.

I can tell you from experience that you just cannot be watchful enough. Of course in our area deer are always a danger on the road, but this time of year they are even less predictable, due to their hormones going into overdrive.

I remember being attacked by a moose on Hwy 59 a few years ago. I was driving back from Winnipeg and there was this big moose right in the middle of the road. When it saw me approach in my little red beatle it just lowered its head and charged. I just narrowly missed getting a new radiator mascot -without the radiator.

So be careful.
