After things have finally thawed I took a tour to the beach. The water level was lower than the years before. It looks really promising for this summer – something we can all use after the long winter.
Now all we need is decent weather – some more sun. Maybe that will even take the frost out of the ground and let my deck settle again.

How are you feeling about it now? I have been in love with the Eastern Beaches since the 90’s but the last few years I feel as though they Shouldn’t call them the Eastern Beaches anymore as there is so little beach left. I remember years at Beaconia Walking all the way down the beach and now water to the trees. Sand is all gone, Patricia Beach is but a sliver if sand when it’s not under water. People say its all Hydro Manitobas Fault…..grat Blog though.

Hi Jordan,
I know what you mean. We have been coming out to Hillside Beach since 1968 and many things have changed. The beach at Hillside used to be even bigger than it is now and the dunes were a lot higher.
I too have heard that the Nelson River Project and Mantiba Hydro are to blame and to some extent I guess that’s right. But all things change and the beach at Hillside is still very wide and goes on for ever – as you can see on the picture above.
