As reported yesterday by Water Stewartship and Manitoba water testing branch, the beaches and the Lake are safe for swimming. The E. coli bacteria (Escherichia coli) are within recreational water quality guidelines.
There is even a new phenomenom called ‘row rage’ that has pickers protecting their rows against others trying to sneek-pick berries from rows other than the ones they were assigned to. So far there haven’t been any real phyisikal fights, but apparently it got pretty close a few times.
I just read an article on CBC stating that Manitoba’s main beer distributor says that though there is plenty of beer available they are having problems with the distribution, due to labour problems and weather and illness.
The South Beach Casino Hotel in Scanterbury Manitoba was supposed to be opening at the end of this summer. Delays caused by an ongoing investigation by the province’s workplace safety and health division this date may not be met. Construction has been closed down untill the end of the investigation.
Manitoba Hydro has been ordered to raise the price of electricity by 5 percent! Everybody think again, before you put on that air conditioning before you go to the beach. I know its great to come back and have a place to cool off after a hot day, but this year that could prove to be expensive.
Strong winds brought down the scaffolding and parts of the construction site at South Beach Casino in Scanterbury. The debris fell on some parked vehicles, but there are currently no reports of people being harmed.

Though it can be sunny at the Beaches the weather forcast for Southern Manitoba will predict rain. I wish Environment Canada would discover the area from Patricia Beach to Victoria Beach. Though tornadoes (tornados? whats the proper plural?) are not really common in the Eastern Beaches Area of Manitoba, we all remember the twister that came down at Gull Lake two years ago, killing one person and our power and phone lines.
