I also like Winter though. I guess you have to, if you want to spend any kind of time in Manitoba.
I made a few pictures of Winter in Hillside Beach, so you can maybe understand why I like it.
I was surprised to see the first people ice fishing on the Red River just past Selkirk Manitoba. I hadn’t thought that the ice was thick enough yet.

A boat from Poplar River River with a crew of three capsized on Lake Winnipeg yesterday. The crew was going to pick up bouys on the Lake to clear up before winter when they ran into engine trouble.
The South Beach Casino is famous across Manitoba for its clean atmosphere and now for the neu luxurious hotel beside it. It is situated on the Broken Head Reserve in Scanterbury along Hwy 59.

This week-end at the Lake is expected to be perfect Fall cottage weather. Mainly sunny on Saturday with 0% chance of percipitation and sunny on Sunday.
For tonight there has been a Green-thumb alert, a frost warning, for parts of Manitoba.
This will probably not affect the beaches area due to warmth from the Lake, but if you have sensitive plants you might want to prepare none the less.

The festival was started in 1982 by the Manitou Rapids Art Council of Pine Falls / Powerview and is dedicated to Paper, Power, Pea and Pickeral. Thus the four Ps.
The hotel will open on time at the Southbeach Casino. The building looks almost complete from the outside.
Thursday the hot weather ended with a bang! My power kept failing here in Hillside Beach during the night. There was lots of severe rain and strong winds, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The best thing though, was when I stopped at Traverse Bay Corner on my way back, to try the excelent turkey dinner at the Idle Thyme. I actually saw a man carrying a bag of wood for the fireplace out of the store!

I woke up this morning to the news on CBC. In the weather forecast they said that Victoria Beach was the hotspot in Winnipeg. Well, I´m sure they meant in Manitoba
The rain has let off and it will be sunny for the next few days at least.
So everybody grab your beach gear and off to the cottage.
